Generally we like to continue to believe what we have been
accustomed to accept as true. The resentment aroused when
doubt is cast upon our assumptions, can be quite deep seated
and emotionally charged. This tends to direct our reasoning
to finding arguments for going on believing as we already do.
When presented with an idea that opposes what we believe,
we ought to listen with the aim of understanding it from the
other's point of view. Then after review, a respectful agree to
disagree position is recommended if we still feel in opposition.
Many instances of mass media manipulation of public thinking
have been engineered over the decades. Only now are many
waking up to what has been going on for so long. Most though
are still largely oblivious and will no doubt follow along as
they have been, not knowing any better.
When the majority ZIG......you should probably ZAG....
